It's a hard sell: (HT: Pleated-Jeans ) I've tried using Star Trek illustrations in my sermons, and I recognize the looks I receive: they're the same looks I give when the preacher compares a biblical truth to some dude's hitting stats.  I mean, come on - you have to look down  from the stands to watch sports... Star Trek draws our eyes up.

A quick response to the atheist billboards

Image
In case you haven't seen, the Creation Museum's advertising billboards created quite a stir among atheists .  We love atheists and their call for reason and logic, though we obviously believe they lack the epistemological basis for their call.  We can only pray for them to see the light of God's revelation as we continue to shine it on this fact. Here is what appeared on the AiG site: 1. This one mocks Noah’s Flood (with a ridiculous statement and false assumptions about the height of the mountains before the Flood and about where the water came from). 2. This one totally misrepresents the Bible’s teaching about masters and slaves (servants). 3. This one shows it is the atheists who want to indoctrinate children.   I urge you to look at the rest and get a real feel for how atheists conduct their campaigns of mocking and hatred against God and His Word. Go to  http://atheistbillboards.com/2012/ .  Actually, the fact that the secularists are so up...

Dr. Farnell dropped his paper (docx format) and PowerPoint on the Evangelical community today at the  International Society of Christian Apologetics , and it is sure to make controversy resound when it lands. The trend within Evangelicalism over the past couple of decades has been to adopt ideologies that are classically defined as "liberal" -- embracing of a synoptic problem, searching for the "historical Jesus," and all that stuff lay people would think of when someone says, "Jesus Seminar." Of pertinent focus for this blog, there is no Gospel message if we cannot trust the four Gospels . Dr. Farnell  (see faculty page) , affectionately known as "Maximus" among his (frightened) students, dared to connect the dots between what Evangelical scholars are doing today and what mainline denominations were doing at the height of the modernist-fundamentalist controversy.  He asks, "Is history repeating itself?" and you will be doomed t...
